Schools have a clear duty under the Fire Services Acts to keep everyone on site safe from fire. With large numbers of children, busy buildings and shared escape routes, trained fire wardens are essential to a quick, calm evacuation.
Fires in schools can start in kitchens, science labs, plant rooms, electrical equipment or storerooms. The first minutes matter most, so staff need to know how to raise the alarm, get pupils out, and account for everyone at the assembly point.
